Winner of the 2012-2013 Larry Mitchelson Fine Arts Scholarship Announced

Larry Mitchelson, affectionately known as “Mr. Mitch,” taught   elementary art in the Fulton City School District for 34 years.

To honor his commitment to local youth, his son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Susan Mitchelson, created a foundation that annually awards a $1,000 scholarship to a student who plans on pursuing higher education in the arts.

Applicants must complete advanced high school credits in art courses and submit a portfolio to a selection committee to be eligible for the award.

This year’s Larry Mitchelson Fine Arts Scholarship recipient is Mariah Munger. Munger is a senior at G. Ray Bodley
High School in Fulton and will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards her education at the State University of
New York New Paltz.

She will study Visual Arts in the Fall 2013.
