Scholarship Details

Eligibility Requirements

  • Graduating senior of G. Ray Bodley High School
  • Advanced high school credits in art courses and/or related practical application of skills outside the classroom (stage set design, computer animated design, graphic design, etc.)
  • Submit portfolio along with application for selection committee review
  • Relatives of members of the Larry Mitchelson Scholarship Fund, Inc. organization, including any committees, are not eligible for scholarship assistance.

Selection Process

  • Completed application and portfolio must be submitted to the G. Ray Bodley High School Guidance Office by the deadline listed in the application
  • A scholarship committee including members of the Mitchelson family, G. Ray Bodley High School faculty and guidance office will review all applications and select the award’s recipient
  • The award will be presented annually at the G. Ray Bodley High School commencement ceremony.

Awards & Disbursement

  • The scholarship is presented annually and is a one-time award.
  • The award amount is $1,000 US.
  • The award recipient is eligible to submit digital photos of their art work for publication on www.mitchelsonartscholarship.org for display purposes. This benefit has no expiration.
  • The award will be presented at the G. Ray Bodley High School commencement ceremony
  • The award may be used toward tuition, books and/or art related instructional supplies.

Conditions

  • The award recipient will agree to grant to Larry Mitchelson Scholarship Foundation, Inc. and those acting pursuant to its direction or control, (and agree to confirm such grant in writing upon request), the right to print, publish, broadcast and use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the world wide web, at any time or times, the winner’s name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness and biographical information as news or information and for advertising, trade and promotional purposes without additional consideration and without notification, review or approval.
  • Award recipients, (and participants parents or legal guardians if participant is a minor (both on behalf of themselves and winner), release and agree to hold harmless Larry Mitchelson Scholarship Foundation, Inc. and their respective directors, officers, employees, representatives and agents from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to person, including death, and property, arising in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the Scholarship Award, participation in this Scholarship Application and Award process, or participation in any of this Scholarship’s related activity.
  • Students applying for scholarship are required to attend an education institution as defined in section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii) of the IRS Code (accredited colleges and/or universities).
  • Relatives of members of the Larry Mitchelson Scholarship Fund, Inc. organization, including any committees, are not eligible for scholarship assistance.

By signing the scholarship application, the student attests that the:

  • scholarship funds will be used for expenses associated with attending their college or university;
  • information provided within the application, including any art portfolio pieces are true and accurate and/or were designed/created exclusively by applicant and;
  • applicant and their parent/guardian agree to all terms and conditions stated herein.

Should misuse of the scholarship funds be discovered, the Larry Mitchelson Scholarship Fund Inc. must comply with Internal Revenue Service guidelines and will make every attempt to be refunded. Letters will be sent via certified mail to both student and their parents to initiate the collection process.
